People can bang on the OL, bang on Wells(Shane), bang on the LB corp, but the single most devastating thing to this team is Wilson in coverage. You saw it last week when he was "nosey" and you saw it today on the 4th down. He had the over the top coverage and Moss is wide open. He may be the biggest liability in coverage in the NFL. Let me correct that, he IS the biggest liability in coverage in the NFL. Great blitzer and run defender but if HOrton thinks he has some kind of Polomalu back there, he's sadly mistaken. Wilson should be on the bech in any passing situation. Not only the last play, but Wilson leave TE's wide open constantly and .............. okay I'm done.

Move Adub to LB. He plays better when he is down in the box.

I just don't agree that a team can be a legit playoff team with a defense that gives up 922 yards in two games. The D blew a 21-13 lead in the 4th.
AGAIN giving up a huge play on 4th down.

But I guess you could be right. With their crappy Defense the Cards need an offense that can be ahead 31 points in the 4th and they aren't going to do that with that Oline.

The Packers have given up 952 in 2 games this season so that just isn't true. I know that they are a better team defensively, but your statement is wrong. You can be a contender while giving up loads of yards, but like penalties, it makes it much harder.

Didn't see the game but I listened to parts on radio and Pasch and Wolf were harping on a few things.

Without Washington and then Lenon we had to stack the box which made it too easy for them to throw.

Wilson can't cover, he said this several times he said with Peterson being so young you really need Safeties that can be counted on to be where they're supposed to be and wilson wasn't repeatedly.

He said this twice, "the Cards have a REAL problem with Levi Brown, it's not just the inability to pass block consistently it's the penalties and just the fact that they have to scheme plays that happen quickly because he can't give Kolb more time."

Pasch talked about it repeatedly how we had guys open all game if Kolb could get the time from Brown to make the throw. I haven't heard Pasch be that direct about Levi before today he was all over him.

Probably the best assessment of the Cards problems so far this year. Levi Brown, Adrian Wilson, and Joey Porter hold this team back. (Yes, Wilson's poor safety play is much more damaging than the play of our interior LB's.)

Difference with the Pack though is 400+ yards came at the expense of the Saints, not a rookie QB starting his first NFL game on the road and Rex freaking Grossman.

Well given the current conditions of the NFL you may be right. The yardage numbers being put up are just unreal.

I should have remembered that Warner and Co. put 407 yards on the Steelers and 531 yards on Green Bay in the friggin' playoffs. Two of the best defenses in the NFL at the time.

Wait, didn't the Packers just give up 400+ to Cam Newton today?

That same rookie QB put up 400 on the Packers today. The difference was they got 3 picks, we got 2 but the refs took one away from us.

But it's pretty clear Newton is much better than most of us expected.

The main problem with this team is that we have a Rookie DC installing a new system with two rookies at CB and a Safety that missed the entire preseason.

These guys look lost. Blown coverages left and right. Horton needs to get everyone on the same page.

In today's NFL defense comes down to 3 stats.

1: Points allowed. Good defenses will have blips, but you need to be able to force FGs rather than TDs to win.

2: Turnovers. With offenses having such an advantage in the NFL anymore, the ability to give your offense an additional possession is more important than ever.

3: 3rd down conversion allowed %. Like we saw today, not getting off the field on third can kill you. It extends drives allowing offenses to get in rhythm, defensive players get worn down, and leads to points more often than not. Easily more important than stopping the run, the ability to stop 3rd down conversions is a testament of solid defensive play. Might be more important than turnovers as well.

The third down theory doesn't work. I used to think that as well however the Cards opponents 3rd down conversion % kept getting smaller but the defense still sucked. So far this year the Cards have allowed teams to convert only 9 of 28 third down attempts. They are 10th best in the NFL at 32%

Face it our defense just sucks all around.

It's not the MAIN problem, but does it infuriate anyone else that this team cannot, and I mean CANNOT execute a simple screen pass? Seriously, everytime we even attempt a screen pass, it looks like a blooper reel. It's not even that we cant gain yards on them, it's that we literally cant even complete the pass. Never stops pissing me off.
