People can bang on the OL, bang on Wells(Shane), bang on the LB corp, but the single most devastating thing to this team is Wilson in coverage. You saw it last week when he was "nosey" and you saw it today on the 4th down. He had the over the top coverage and Moss is wide open. He may be the biggest liability in coverage in the NFL. Let me correct that, he IS the biggest liability in coverage in the NFL. Great blitzer and run defender but if HOrton thinks he has some kind of Polomalu back there, he's sadly mistaken. Wilson should be on the bech in any passing situation. Not only the last play, but Wilson leave TE's wide open constantly and .............. okay I'm done.

He's the worst, get him out of the game. Go with 6, PP, AJ, Rhodes, Marhsall, Adams, and Johnson in passing downs. I know JOhnson is bad but he's not Wilson bad.

I LOVE Adrian Wilson. He is hands down one of my favorite players on the team.

But you are right. Total liability. Announcers were blaming PP on the 4th down TD, when is was clear that AW was supposed to have the over coverage and was burned. PP was playing the middle zone area for the expected over the middle pass to pick up the first down. AW was solely responsible for the deep ball, and he was 5 steps behind.

Where is the A-Dub we all know (knew) and love (loved) ?? :bang:

The lack of discipline on the team is a problem. Again too many stupid and unnecessary problems, and it's been an issue since Whis arrived.

Also, playcalling clearly remains an issue. Thank God we went back to the pass when we'd run the ball up and down the field in the second half.

Was thinking the exact same thing when that ball was caught. It was the game for crying out loud.

Just can't continue to happen.

Actually the announcers said just what you observed. They said PP was relying on AW to have the coverage...

They managed to sneak that in on the third mention - the first two things they said were that the rookie CB got beat. Then that Peterson got beat. Then that Peterson thought that AW would have the coverage.

When instead, there was no PP in there...that was ALL on AW.

Wilson has been no worse than Peterson in coverage!!! yeah sure he's a rook, but when you watch him play in zone coverage it's negates his single most important trait...his speed. I remember hearing several draft gurus questioning his ability to play zone. Guess what Horton's main coverage is...zone. Did the Cards once again take a player who doesn't fit what they are trying to do? Just asking.

This is inarguable. The playcalling is schizophrenic at times.

Peterson was improved this week from last..even in zone coverage.

Coverage issues on the team, in order: Strong Safety - LBs - PP.

SS and LB coverage is atrocious. PP is improving. I don't see the LBs getting better and when DWash is out, it's worse than AW.

TEs are destroying us even more than they have in the past - that's a safety and LB problem. Over the top safety help is non-existent. Steve Smith got a monster gain last week and Moss got a huge TD on it this week.

The biggest mistakes are being made by our LBs and our SS. The rook is making some mistakes, but FFS, not even remotely as bad as these two units.

Our main problem is getting a real number #2 receiver. Defense did enough to win the game. Is Wilson a liability yes. But offense didn't execute in the first half.

Peterson is a rookie. He's going to make mistakes. I can live with that. Wilson is beyond Roy Williams bad in coverage. And that's bad.

The problem is he was never all that great. In the past, we have had coaches how knew how to use him and the need to figure that out again.

The reality is that this defense still lacks three or four essential ingredients to be a decent 3-4 defense.

No use trying to place blame on one individual.. the defense overall is a mess..

Offensively, we are close IMO.. the two OTs are dreadful and need to be replaced, but the other components are there especially if Ryan Williams can come back next yr... A true #2 WR would be nice, but I feel with upgraded pass protection we have enough playmakers

Steroids restrict movement and flexibility, maybe that's the issue? :)

or just maybe that our defense sucks because the talent sucks and no amount of coaching can make up the difference.

Wilson should be an OLB with Porter being released. WE could sign another safety from the other teams practice squad or a released player not signed.
