Kubiak is absolutely done as HC in Houston. Lets get this party started, and start campaigning to get him here as the OC on 2011.

OC, definitely YES, but never, never as HC. My fear is that if he's on the staff 2-3 years down the road & Whiz hasn't turned this thing around, that we would consider promoting him to HC. I still trust in Whiz & believe he'll fix this, but if down the road we have to go in a different direction, then I think it's time to look at a HC with a defensive background.

Kubiak is a fine OC

but is his system anything like what Whisenhunt runs?

I am not even sure an OC is in the top 5 of what is wrong with the team. To me its like worrying about a car's tires when the engine is blown.

I agree. The team needs a DC & QB 1st & foremost. They then need to revamp the entire defense. After that, they need to fix the OL. This won't be easy!!

What is the situation in Houston? Is it more about what Kubiak is doing/not doing or something else?

To me, it seems that Schaub is good but not great but they have a stud at WR, RB, DE...what is it that keeps the Texans from elevating to the next level. In an off year for the Colts, for the Texans to not take advantage and make the playoffs is probably unforgivable.

I mean, I understand, to a degree, the Texans having a tough go of it when the Colts have been winning 12+ games per year and also having to deal with perennial tough teams like Tennesse and Jacksonville. It's a pretty tough division.

But does Kubiak really deserve the hot seat or is it just time for Houston to make a change? They still have a top 10 offense in ppg which is Kubiak's side of things. I guess the buck stops at HC but what about the DC? Seems that their defense is the problem area. Why not bring in Wade Phillips and let the offense keep rolling?

Of course, when they signed Rackers AND Leinart...who could have guessed it would end badly? ;)

Their defense, outside of Williams, is pedestrian at best. Their secondary? God awful.

I really do not know who is a good OC or a bad one. I assume you first have to get our HC from acting as the OC and at that point I also assume he would have a lot to do with who is selected since he is he one who has to work with him. Kubiak and Whiz may hate each other for all we know.

I do know that when Bobby Petrino up and quit the Falcons he was bad mouthed all around the country. I was surprised when Arkansas signed him. He has proven to be a God Send and has turned this team totally around. He seems almost like an offensive genius and we run some plays that are very innovative. He is not only smart but can inspire and pressure the players to do their best. The result is a 10-2 record so far this year and a top ten recruiting team for next year. He already makes on the order of 4 mil a year and the fans are calling for him to be extended while he still has three more years on his contract. The Athletic Director has said it will be handled. Coaches can make all the difference in college where they are responsible for obtaining the players. He was in Arizona this week as Arkansas has signed four guys for Arizona. We have never gone out that far to recruit. One of them is out of a junior college in the Phoenix area (I think a running back).

I'd love to see Kubiak come here to be our OC. He is an offensive genious who has had great success in both running and passing the ball, and he has a good eye for assistant offensive coaches.

The problem is, he runs the zone blocking scheme whereas Whis prefers the power blocking. I think personality-wise Whis and Kubiak would get along just fine, however, their ideas for the offense may not mesh.

If we were to get Koobs, we'd need to makeover our offensive line and its depth quite extensively.

This. I vote for Ken Whisenhunt (the engineer) ;)
Heck yeah, Cards just need more players from Pittsburgh who know the system.

An OC would have never let the QB situation become what it has so I think its a big deal.

Bunk. If the HC doesnt want or like the QB what exactly do you think the OC can do to stop it?

Ditto.

It would be the ultimate challenge. Just have Michael Bidwill call up Kubiak, and say

"So, Mr. Smartypants, you think you can just go to any organization, and take any running back and have success running the ball ? Try coming down to the desert and fixing this crap fest."

And hang up the phone.

It would be like Warner taking the Cardinals to the Superbowl, if Kubiak got the Cardinals to run the ball consistantly.
