i haven't analyzed it statistically, but my impression is that Allen is a key component of what makes the Suns go when they're going good.

i think their balance has been off lately without him. Perhaps because he does a little bit of everything and is a smart player. He puts the effort in defensively, can drive and create his own shot, is dependable in the clutch, and as a 3pt threat, defenses can never cheat off of him.

the guy who replaces him on the court doesn't have his combination of skills

He's been great.

He was an easily frustrated cheap shot artist as a younger player but he's grown out of it.

He and Booker are the only on ball guys the opposition seems to respect. If neither are on the court our offense is a train wreck.

He's a very clever player, he's unselfish... I wish he was more durable, but he is somehow the best asset to come out of that Ayton/Lillard/Holliday/Nurkic trade.

Considering how much that boy gets knocked around every game, I'd say he's plenty durable.

Good point. He does seem to have grown out of his earlier anger management issues. Becoming a father helped, I'm sure.

He's the only player other than Book who can consistently get downhill to make plays for others. Green should be that in theory, but in practice he's been pretty poor at it so far. Hopefully it's just getting more comfortable post injury.

i haven't checked the stats on Allen, but i believe he's one of those players whose stats don't tell the story

imo, it's no coincidence that the team''s persona reappeared only when he was back from his injury.

he's clutch, smart, and leads with a full set of offensive skills. He hasn't got the agility to be a lock-down one-on-one -defender, but even with Brooks out, Allen's hustle and team defense gels with Gillespi, Royce, Willians-or-Oso

imo, it's also no coincidence that, last night, the Suns were up 20 in the 4th and it went down to 9 when he had to sit. Booker and Green held the ball and passed it between themselves like Booker and Durant

that's the situation i worried about
with Booker and Green in, the guy who's best all around closing asset has to sit

and what about when Brooks is back?
i'd want Brooks, Allen, Gillespi, Royce and Willians-or-Oso closing out games

Booker would be useful for drawing doubles and dishing and Green is the fastest slasher when we need a 2. If ego management wasn't a problem, i'd rotate them in and out as needed.

Grayson Allen concludes his regular season with career highs in points (16.5) and assists (3.8) while playing under 30 minutes per game.

Most drives he’s ever had in his career with 530. Helped generate 517 points off his assists, which is 154 more than last season.

He's grown on me a lot, from a guy a really didn't like to a competitor I respect... but he is eminently tradable. He can't stay on the court, he's the oldest of our many guards. I feel like, health wise, he might be on the brink.

If we can get a 1st for him, we should take it.

Also, that fake toy @Hoop Head linked makes me really think they need to chance the color of the ball on our purple jersey from white to orange. That looks way better.

Grayson is the type of high impact player every team needs. We have seen him time and time again shoot us back into games or put games away. The problem is he can't stay healthy. He isn't much use if he isn't on the court. The injuries have been non-stop.

AI got the hair all wrong on this. Look at how dark his hair is with no gray in it at all. Maybe a little bottle Just For Men should be in that package.

Agreed. I was disappointed when we traded for him and assumed he was just a salary filler but he became an important piece and was fun to watch! I’ll definitely root for him and Royce going forward.

Similar to Danny Ainge. There was some push back similar to Allen when the Suns wanted to get Ainge. People saying he's a dirty player, etc. Allen played to maximum ability when he was here. That's all you can ask for.

Thats when that had the baby. He was a very good player for us. I gained a lot of respect for him.

Surprisingly he was healthier that season than he was last year. 64 to 51 games. Both lower than you want from a bench player. Availability wasnt his strong suit and i was ready to move on all last season. No hard feelings. Maybe if he opts out we can sign him on the cheap next season if he can get his health back in order.

I was wrong when I thought he was just a slow dirty player with a decent shot. I have admitted this already but I can say it again. I am impressed by his play for us and he has won me over. Good luck to him (and Rolls Royce).

Not sure why you are hating on Sexton. Just because he plays on losing teams? He played for Charlotte until the dead line and got them Cody White. He played well here in Charlotte.

In this particular instance, I don’t think it is hating on Sexton to say that Allen, when healthy, is better at almost every single aspect of the game.

The stats back that up pretty clearly.

As for Charlotte, they learned the same lesson that every other team he has played for learned. He doesn’t make your team better.

He’s just not good, he is an undersized guard who doesn’t pass rebound or defend. He shoots and he shoots and he shoots. That’s OK if that’s your ninth man, but that is not the way he plays. He is a homeless man’s Jamal Crawford, and I am not a big fan of Jamal Crawford.
