Not a rules expert but the VAR on the Germany header goal coming back was correct right they knocked the goalie down before the header? You could see the goalie asking for it immediately after the goal and the first replay they showed I immediately said that's coming back.
Paraguay chokes the last 2 PK's in the first round but then hits the game winner in the next round. And Germany missed what 3 of the 6?

I missed both games. Will get to see the one I was most excited about. But it sounds like the first two were great. Now that Paraguay knocked out Germany, people can put some respect on group D. There were no minnows in there.
Yes it was a foul. It would have been a weak foul if he did that to a defender but he put his arm around the goalie and that kept the gk from reacting in time. I think he might have been ok if he didn’t grab the gk. Earlier in the game we saw a Paraguay defender put two arms around a Germany player in the box that was going up for a header. That could have been given a penalty but it would have been a weak call.
Penalty shootout was nut. Paraguay almost choked that.

Great game. Rightful winner of the game. But a shame as both these teams are among the top 8 IMO.

One of the good stories of the WC about to get bad. Cape Verde player Ryan Mendes is apparently under investigation for rape in New Zealand, and the Cape Verde team knew about it for months and still let him go the WC. They played a friendly in Auckland and he allegedly entered the hotel room of one of the translators and raped her. she reported it and NZ notified Cape Verdes team about the allegation and asked them not to send Mendes to the WC and they still did
Weird for me a friend from HS is a big Cape Verde fan and the primary reason why is her fathers side of the family is originally from there and her last name is Mendes so she thought it was entirely possible she was related to Ryan Mendes. Not clear if CV will let him play in the next game
