MIke LaFleur was pressed today on why Josh Sweat, who's still on the PUP list, hasn't practice at all during training camp.

“Still going through his process of making sure that Josh Sweat is where he needs to be and how he feels where he needs to be to be at his best," LaFleur said. "So, progressing good. I know what Monti said to you. My message isn't any different. He's in a good spot right now, but we just need a little bit more time."

But then LaFleur was asked if it's been a three-week ramp-up to get Sweat ready for the season.

"Yeah. I mean, there's different parts of injuries and stuff like that that, you know, are...and I shouldn't even call it injuries...but just getting himself right to be ready to roll. So, again, I like where he's at. I know everyone probably is not believing me on that one, but again, I only try to speak truth to you guys."

LaFleur said the decision for Sweat not to practice is a "collective" decision, including non-team opinions.
Well that clarifies everything

sweat got 12 sacks last year - if we can prevent the qb from bootlegging (like rallis used to) the opposite way we might get some turnovers - felt bad watching sweat chasing qbs - browning neither defended the edge nor got pressure - if we get another true book end in nolen we can pin some quarterbacks in the pocket - first one there gets the sack

Quick takeaways from #AZCardinals QB Jacoby Brissett after training camp:

- excited to play on Thursday and get the communication/operation down with LaFleur

- “I’m catching up, for sure.” says he’s made leaps and bounds since arriving back to camp. Says familiarity is getting better. He’ll say plays in his head as LaFleur is putting them up in meetings. Relationship with Mike is growing and vulnerability has been key.

- what he likes most about the offense: how they can do the same thing in 20/25 different ways

- “that’s what you’re striving for” in terms of MHJ taking tremendous steps. Says the hard part is wanting results now but still need to put the work in and sustain the competitive edge.

#AZCardinals WR Kendrick Bourne after training camp:

- First time traveling to a different space for camp. Practicing in the stadium has been a “joy”

- Excited to play in preseason and hit new people.

- Says Mike LaFleur will use him as an example often and their relationship is great. Says how he responds to coaching can help another player.

- “I love the energy” when asked what he likes about the team after training camp. “The pieces are there” and feels like they’re building something special. Called the WR room the best he’s been apart with. called younger group solid and says they’re making it harder on coaches by all of them playing well.

- impressions of Jacoby: says it’s been a process of getting him connected with offense but loves the mentality and leadership. Has good energy. Says money controls a lot in this league and they understood that while Brissett was out.

- Carson Beck is confident and “him throwing bombs was dope” after some questions on his arm strength

Hmmm. I would have guessed that it had something to do with a crawfish and them sometimes being called a Mudbug.
morphing...
Crawford-crawfish-mudbug=bug....

many nicknames evolve in such a fasions...
Hell, so do pet names...
I call my Frenchie "Rooney"...her name is actually "PunkyP... but when we play I call her Punka, and Punka Rooney...and we end up with "Come on Rooney"...

same situation, yeah?

Then what?

He's lying. Kind of sucks that the dark cloud of this FO is forcing him into it already. Other than this, I think he's been a really straight shooter. Now if Sweat was just asking to be traded and Monti said no, I'm not putting that on Monti. But if there was a promise made to trade him that was reneged on, that's different. I'm wondering if that is what happened because this all seems spiteful enough for that to be the case. Unless it's about money. He's making really good money for what he brings isn't he? Or no? Is it the $16,385 number I'm seeing? That's kind of lowish for a borderline Pro Bowl edge if that's the number.

Then what?
There were medical concerns with Sweat in Philly. When they signed him, Gannon was familiar with them and knew how to navigate them. I imagine this is more of the same unless MLF is being deceptive which he hasn't shown to be.

EDIT: It is also one of the reasons they work to keep his snap counts lower.

Jeremiyah Love on the narrative that No. 3 is "too high" for a RB:"That just goes to show what type of player the Cardinals see me as, and what type of player the rest of the league sees me as. If I didn’t go to the Cardinals, I was probably gonna get drafted right after that."(via

From the Athletic.

The Dallas Cowboys are the NFL’s most valuable franchise for the seventh time in seven rankings in Sportico’s 2026 NFL Franchise Valuations Ranking.

And it’s not close.

The Cowboys are coming off a second consecutive seven-win season without making the playoffs, but that hasn’t damaged the franchise’s value, which sits at $15.5 billion, according to Sportico. That’s a 21 percent increase from 2025.

#28 - CARDS - a measly $8 billion. ;)

The Cards were the 28th highest frachise valuation but on another page within Sportico, it showed that they were like #13 in Operating Income but I can no longer see the link because I don't subscribe to Sportico. Goes to show you the Bidwills are still all about the profits they can generate. You can't be that much more successful running the business than the other teams without cutting a lot of corners!

sweat had his best years in philly while rallis was the linebackers coach - sweat had 12 sacks with rallis as dc here - sweat is only 1 year into his 4 year contract - sweat didn't just choose gannon and rallis to come here - sweat also chose the money

if i were him i wouldn't play preseason - maybe a few snaps but why when they'd be just as dangerous as they'd be beneficial - healthy is how you achieve double digit sacks in a single season - smart is how you go about it

He shouldn’t play preseason but he can’t practice with the team, either.
