Portland gambled and recovered very well. Too bad Scoot looks like a bust but ultimately they came out ahead.

Didn’t the Blazers recently lock up their head coach to an extension?

Was coming to post that. Happy for Dame.

Curious. I (incorrectly) assumed the player had to have their most recent years be with that team to be eligible for a NTC, but that's apparently not the case.

In order to qualify for a no-trade clause, a player doesn’t necessary need to have spent the past four consecutive seasons with his team — he just needs to have spent at least four seasons with that team at some point.

Yup. Billups is locked in through 2028, so basically mirrors the deal Dame signed.

I have a good friend who lives just outside of Portland and he's been blowing me up all morning.

I thought the same thing. I can understand it in this case. I don't think its a negative either. Giving players NTC in their prime years is definitely questionable but Dame being at the end of his career, it makes sense for both sides.

So. Is Portland going to trade Jrue, or are they thinking they will play Jrue and Dame together? That's a pretty old backcourt.

If they want to trade Jrue, then O Neale, Allen, and Richards for Jrue works. Just considering cap and trade restrictions.

From what I understand, Lillard is likely out for the season. The thought is probably to bring Lillard back home to retire and play next season.

If the Trail Blazers feel they are ready to compete in the West, they may keep Holiday. If not, then he may be a trade candidate.

A short summary of what the Trail Blazers have accomplished via Shams Charania.

Dame is out for the year so I don't think they are in a rush to trade Holiday. That said, while Holiday is definitely slowing down, I'd still LOVE to see him in Phoenix.

From what I've heard, Portland is hoping Jrue and Dame can help Scoot become an NBA player. Kid has potential and he's about out of excuses. If he spends a year with 3 HOF caliber PG's helping him and doesn't figure it out then he never will.

Dame, Jrue, and Billups being those PG's. Apparently they're open to trading Jrue but aren't rushing to do so.

The Suns were one of the teams that pursued Marcus Smart.
