Raptors add stretch big Sandro Mamukelashvili

The Toronto Raptors have agreed to a two-year, $5.5 million contract with free-agent forward/center Sandro Mamukelashvili, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. The deal comes with a second-year player option.
Mamukelashvili, 26, played the last three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs. He averaged 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 50.2% from the floor and 37.3% on 2.6 3-pointers in 11.2 minutes per game last season. He'll offer the Raptors a stretch big option off the bench.

Is this really worthy news....

I like what I saw of him. The Suns may have to start a collection of centers.

Denver's done a great job retooling this offseason. Jonas is a legit backup big that they've been missing for a couple seasons now.

Who is their new GM? The last guy they fired is looking worse with each move they've made.

I agree. The ratings don't remotely support the TV deals they just got signed. Everyone that just signed them will not pay as much again.

Come 2030 or whenever these TV deals they just signed run out - the money is going to seriously dry up.
They've been saying that for years. Live sports is the only thing that is keeping the cable companies and networks of linear television alive.

Pretty much - and even that, with so much going to streaming, every day I get closer to cutting the cord with DirectTV - shows I want to watch I can see streaming on Paramount+ for $6/month versus DirecTV, etc.

I finally got away from DirecTV last year (after 20 something years) when I moved back to Phoenix. All streaming now (and over the air) and it's much cheaper and better quality too!

Agreed ditched cable like 7 years ago and don’t really miss a thing, multiple apps get you more than cable for less. Since Suns now on regular TV as well as most NFL games don’t miss anything of note. Not to mention just the ease of sitting and streaming what you want when you want…

I am starting to agree with Bill Simmons take that there are always 4-7 really bad GM's and that the good teams just feed off their stupidity to stay good.

Seems like those teams right now are
Chicago, Sacramento, Charlotte, Washington, New Orleans, and I think we have to add Millwaukee.

Suns aren't far from that list either - in fact some would put them in it the way they have thrown away their picks.
Jones definitely put us on that list. But we have a new guy now, so we'll have to see how he works out (hopefully, better).

Jakob Poeltl agrees on a four-year, $104 million contract extension.

The big man in the NBA is now a much more valued commodity than a few years ago.

i think you've got to be pretty naive to think those deals weren't hammered out before the two biggest FA in back to back years, signed 1 one, 1 million dollar deals.
NBA teams back then seem to circumvent rules all the time (contacting restricted free agents, collusion, having deals announced the second free agency opened etc.). The NBA has clamped down on a bunch of that stuff but the league was very well aware of what teams were doing for the longest time IMO. So, if many teams were doing it, they were playing the game the NBA was allowing.

Dang, Denver just got Hardaway Jr.

I think that officially puts them back in contender position. Very nice offseason.

Dude we might be the single worst in the NBA we are there. It’s time to come to terms

Milwaukee just won a championship and they took a swing grabbing Dame it didn’t work out but they took a swing to win.

Yeah, and so did we. Both teams over paid, and both teams have double and triple downed. The difference I think is the Suns have finally stopped, but Milwaukee just quadrupled down.

Could, but OKC only gets better as time goes on.

Personally I think San Antonio is soon going to be the team to beat.
when wemby finishes a season i'll worry about san antonio - far as denver/okc goes the nuggets are finding new valuable nuggets while i think okc just paid jalen williams? that was a 7 game series but it wasn't a series at all when jokic was on the bench - denver realized they needed to be deeper when he's off the floor - i have denver > okc as it stands today

They've had the best off-season by a comfortable margin. It helps make up for the awful off-seasons they've had since they won their chip.

The Bucks didn’t completely gut the teams and throw away 5 years of future assets.

We haven’t stopped he just traded 2 1st for a guy who’s never played more than 44 games in a season and is in the last year of his contract last week

Yeah I get all that - but the amount they are paying per viewer is way out of whack with the NBA.

It's not remotely comparable to other sports.

That was the 29th pick, and the diff between a 29 pick in the 20's and our own 2nd. - So it isn't much more than the 29th pick. Value wise that is a good deal.

If you have noticed how much average starting caliber centers have been signing for in the last 24 hours that is looking like a better and better deal - because Mark Williams is only 6 million a year.
