NBA teams back then seem to circumvent rules all the time (contacting restricted free agents, collusion, having deals announced the 2nd free agency opened etc.). The NBA has clamped down on a bunch of that stuff but the league was very well aware of what teams were doing for the longest time IMO. So, if many teams were doing it, they were playing the game the NBA was allowing.

While you’re not wrong, I think jerry was the most creative of owners in these dealings. Hence chambers fast signing and the manning and green deals. Rules were literally made to curtail the loopholes he was leveraging.

Pretty much - and even that, with so much going to streaming, every day I get closer to cutting the cord with DirectTV - shows I want to watch I can see streaming on Paramount+ for $6/month versus DirecTV, etc.

I subscribe to Sling periodically, mostly for ASU/college football. It's crazy I have to have 10 different channels to watch ASU Football. I've sacrificed the DBacks for now, but I hope they make the move to local broadcast soon so I can watch games. I would tune into games all the time even just for background watching if they were on local broadcast.
