Hmm the Richard’s market seems to be drying up. I don’t think we can find any takers for Grayson or O’Neal either. Looking more and more like our only way out of the 2nd apron is to stretch Beal. Not good.
kinda proud of ish for holding onto richards - we know there were calls - but i think all 3 will become more valuable during the season

Those extensions given to Allen and O'Neale are looking like a terrible idea.

The bad moves made by James Jones look to outweigh the good ones.

I heard the Suns could have had another first round pick in the Durant trade but preferred five second round picks, presumably because they could be split to make more than one trade.

Another thought, maybe adding Whitmore to the trade might have messed up the math under the CBA, although this might have been resolved by enlarging the trade.

The interesting part of the second apron, is it is determined at the END of the league year. So any moves or trades during the season, we have time to get under the second apron.

I don't remember. There was so much stuff flying around during the trade. Might have been a Gambo tweet.

Houston Rockets swingman Cam Whitmore has drawn trade interest from the Chicago Bulls (before the Isaac Okoro acquisition) and Denver Nuggets, among others, league sources told HoopsHype.

It’s worth noting Whitmore was nearly traded to the Phoenix Suns in the Kevin Durant trade, league sources told HoopsHype. Instead, Phoenix opted for more future second-round draft pick compensation, HoopsHype has learned.

Whitmore, who turns 21 in July, has averaged 10.8 points in 17.4 minutes per game in two seasons for the Rockets.

I'm not too heartbroken about this. A little intriguing but no more than Rasheer Fleming, who more fits a position of need. Suns made the right choice here. We didn't need another tweener SG.

Although Whitmore would have been a good addition, it shows the Suns weren't shooting from the hip and had a plan in place when trading for those five second round picks.

What makes you think he is holding onto him? More likely teams thought we were asking too much for him.

There is no good reason to hold onto Richards when we need to develop our #10 pick, and we still have Oso who is a capable #3.

yup - until williams (or maluach) gets hurt lol - then holding onto richards seems genius - or until a contender loses a big and suddenly richards turns into a invaluable back up that comes at a hefty price even for a mid

I know in the past, some guys wait until media day to sign their contracts if they aren't in Phoenix already. Just don't be surprised if one or two don't sign right away.

If it was me as a player, I'd be in that office first thing! :)

I really don't think this team will be the same by the end of the season. I think we are now waiting for midseason trade window because we aren't getting the value we want for guys now. Plus we can play guys in practice under Coach Ott, and see who fits the system and who doesn't. Suns have time to make more deals.

Things don't seem to be as simple anymore. The CBA has made it much more complicated. A lot depends on the math.

I know that's true when some players have to sign before others to manuever around the luxury tax, etc.

I expect both sides will want changes in the next CBA. The penalties are too harsh. It amounts to something similar to a hard cap.

I have watched a lot of capologist type guys and they simplify this CBA. You can have one Superstar on a Max contract. You can pair him with a star with a large contract. Then everyone else needs to be average to rookie contracts, mid level exception, etc. The NBA wanted to spread the skills throughout the league and get away from super teams. With having different NBA Champions over these last seasons, it seems it is working.

There are a lot of ways to look at the CBA, but IMO there needed to be a transition period.

I'm sure there were owners and players who didn't fully comprehend all the penalties and ramifications thereof when the agreement was signed.

Mat Ishbia may have been one of them.

Yeah, this is what I’m saying, I don’t think suns were playing hardball.
We got a pretty good deal so I am content so far. Depends on how Dillo Brooks (shudder) and Jalen Green pans out. Off course, Maluach was the big prize as it looks today.
