No player in NFL history has done what Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence did in Sunday’s win over the Jets.

Lawrence had a historic stat line, completing 20 of 32 passes for 330 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions, and also running the ball five times for 51 yards and a touchdown in a 48-20 victory.

That's a lot of money riding the pine.
They’re kind of stuck with him in 2026. His salary is already guaranteed. He is a candidate to get traded and Miami eats a bunch of his 2026 salary.

Arguably has a better case as a trade candidate than Kyler to a team like Minny/Indy/KC.

"Arguably" is the right word here. I wonder who would be the choice of a majority of NFL GM's...Kyler or Tua?

Legality has a lot of gray areas.

If the NFL was going to look the other way, then they shouldn't call the second foul. The NBA had this right years ago.
What is "excessive force" though. Who makes that determination? If the hit is legal the hit is legal as Gator says, that's fully on Dart. I can promise you that if the league starts saying " you hit the player TOO hard" I'm done with the game of Football. Defenses are already hampered enough with where on a player they are allowed to contact. I get offense sells, but it's FOOTBALL. Just give them flags and call it a day at that point.

IMO, it's more about the unnecessarily leveling of a quarterback who was stepping out of bounds. I'd feel the same about a running back or wide receiver in the same position.

If they were staying inbounds and fighting for yards, then it's fair game.

I can understand your feelings though. It reminds me of this scene from one of the Naked Gun movies.

Not a penalty. Get out of bounds sooner. That’s 100% on Dart.
Not a penalty, AT ALL. He is considered a runner (not a QB) at that point, he is well past the line of scrimmage. He is so close to the sideline, it is hard to tell in multiple replays if he was actually out of bounds.

There wouldn't have been a fine if this hit happened to a WR or RB. NFL got it wrong, big time.

The issue is the severity of the hit and the dual standard for penalties.
The NFL is a tough sport and hard hits are a part of the game. He didn't hit him in the head area, he didn't hit him below the knee, he didn't hit him leading with his head. It is a legal hit according to all written rules of the game.
