D1Baseball reported earlier today that Texas associate head coach Nolan Cain—the Longhorns’ recruiting coordinator—will leave his position at Texas after two seasons.
Cain will join Texas A&M head coach Michael Earley. The two coaches worked together as assistants for two seasons during Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle’s tenure with the Aggies, prior to a College Station departure and Schlossnagle’s subsequent arrival in Austin.
At Texas, Cain played a role role in landing recruits such as Carson Tinney and Aiden Robbins—two players that played crucial roles throughout Texas’ recent College World Series run. As Sports Illustrated reported, “over nine seasons as a recruiting coordinator at LSU, Texas A&M and Texas, Cain has helped secure eight top-10 recruiting classes, including six ranked inside the top five. In his first full recruiting cycle at Texas, he helped the Longhorns land the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class according to both Baseball America and Perfect Game.”
Cain is also a former four-year letterman at LSU.
