Texas A&M's impressive performances across all sports this athletic year have placed them among elite company in the NCAA.
The Aggies are one of four teams in the country that have competed in the College Football Playoff and the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and reached a college baseball regional, joining just Alabama, Georgia, and Miami. While succeeding on the field and court, Texas A&M registered a program record multi-year Academic Progress Rate of 988 on May 6.
Head coaches Mike Elko, Bucky McMillan and Michael Earley have much to be proud of as the athletic year comes to a close. Elko led the football team to its first playoff appearance, McMillan guided the men's basketball squad to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and Earley bounced back from the disappointing finish in 2025 to host the Bryan-College Station Regional for the 14th time in program history.
Here is more on how each of these programs performed during the 2025-26 season:
In just his second season as the head coach in Bryan-College Station, Elko led the Aggies to their first 11-0 start since 1992 and their first-ever appearance in the CFP. While the postseason run was cut short by a 10-3 loss to Miami, which eventually competed in the national championship game, Texas A&M is moving in the right direction toward becoming an elite college football program.
When McMillan was hired to become the next head coach of Texas A&M's men's basketball last April, just one scholarship player was remaining on the roster. He could have folded and called 2025-26 a rebuilding season, but he didn't. McMillan loaded up in the transfer portal and compiled a squad that went head-to-head against some of the top teams in the country. The Aggies reached the NCAA Tournament and defeated Saint Mary's in the first round before being bounced by the No. 2-seeded Houston Cougars in the Round of 32.
Last, but not least, Texas A&M baseball will cap off the university's athletic year in the NCAA DI Baseball Tournament. After missing the postseason completely in 2025, Earley has turned the ship around in College Station by securing the program's 14th regional host. The Aggies face Lamar in the first contest of the Bryan-College Station Regional, while Texas State battles USC.
