Another Houston Texans player has signed his rookie contract.
According to KRPC 2 Sports' Aaron Wilson, the Texans and Rutgers defensive tackle Kyonte Hamilton have agreed to a four-year deal worth $4.81 million, keeping him in Houston through the 2028 season.
Hamilton and a seventh-round pick for the Texans' defensive line, will earn a $138,328 signing bonus with base salaries of $840,000, $1.058 million, $1.277 million and $1.495 million through 2028.
A three-year starter for the Scarlet Knights, Hamilton is an experienced name, playing in 51 games over four years in Piscataway since 2021. He totaled 28 tackles and a sack in 2023 before having his best year as a senior last fall, tying for the team lead with four sacks, five for loss and 36 tackles overall to lead the defensive line.
“He’s an NFL player,” Rutgers coach Greg Schiano told reporters at the Scarlet Knights' Pro Day. “He’s strong, he’s tough, he’s durable, intelligent. He’s even a better person than he is a football player.”
He was voted honorable mention All-Big Ten in 2024.
The Texans take the field for rookie minicamp Friday morning.
