No. 15 Tennessee (3-0) defeated Nicholls (0-3), 12-2 in seven innings, on Saturday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols completed a three-game series sweep under first-year head coach Josh Elander.
Virginia transfer Evan Blanco (1-0) made his Tennessee debut on Saturday. He started and pitched five innings for the Vols. The left-handed pitcher totaled nine strikeouts 87 pitches, including 58 strikes, against 22 batters. He allowed five hits, zero runs and two walks.
Blaine Brown, Levi Clark and Finley Bates hit one home run each for the Vols against Nicholls.
Tennessee's offense totaled 11 hits and left eight runners on base. The Vols went 5-of-17 with runners on base and 2-of-13 with runners in scoring position during the series finale.
Tennessee won the series opener, 10-0 in eight innings, while winning game No. 2 on Saturday, 5-1, in a doubleheader.
The Vols will return to action on Feb. 17 versus UNC Asheville. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. EST (SEC Network+).
