A rising motocross star has tragically died in a training accident.

17-year-old Spanish rider Enzo Badenas was fatally injured in an accident during a private training session in Spain on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The accident occurred at the Red Sand Park circuit in Castellon in eastern Spain, Spanish outlets La Razón and Las Provincias reported.

Badenas joined the Specialized Center for Motor Sports Technification (CETDM) in 2023 after winning the Spanish 85cc Motocross Championship the previous season.

The CETDM confirmed the 17-year-old’s death in an Instagram post, stating that the teen “suffered a serious accident” during training.

“The Ricardo Tormo Circuit Technification Center is shocked by this news and all the staff of the CETDM and the Circuit wish to give condolences, love and a lot of strength to all the family members, colleagues, friends and close ones of Enzo in these difficult moments,” said the organization.

Badenas was part of the Spanish motocross National team. He achieved many accomplishments in his short career, having competed in national and international events, including the European Championship.

“Throughout this time, he has shown great personal and professional growth that has led him to achieve various podiums and victories,” said the CETDM.

An hour before the fatal accident, Badenas had posted footage on his Instagram Stories doing what he loved best, riding motorcycles, per Las Provincias.

The teen star’s family shared details of his funeral on his page on Monday, Dec. 8.

“On behalf of Enzo's entire family, we would like to inform you that the wake will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral mass at 6:00 PM at the Monduver Funeral Home in Gandía,” they wrote.

“We hope to see you all there. Enzo would have loved to see you. We are feeling all your love and support, and I'm sure Enzo feels it too.”
