LYNNVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Tecumseh Braves have certainly learned how to throw a party over the years. On Monday, the Tecumseh faithful rallied around their team to recognize the braves record breaking accomplishments.
The championship celebration was the second one in a row for the softball team, who took down Western Boone at the IHSAA State Championship game Saturday. The victory was a historic milestone for head coach Gordon Wood, who became the only Indiana softball head coach with seven state titles.
The Braves 7-2 win in the title game also marked their fourth at state in five years.
The team was guided by sophomore pitcher Audrey Seiler, who gave up just one earned run in the postseason. But the 2026 Brave had talent at every position and grade level.
Sophomore Kinley Hildebrand started the scoring in the championship game with a bases clearing double which made it 3-0, while Senior Shae Bailey would later add to the lead with an RBI single.
Contributions from top to bottom like that, is what made head coach Gordon Wood would call this year’s braves “probably his best team ever.”
The championship celebration wrapped up with players signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.
As for what the future holds, the braves now get set to move up to class 3A for the 2026-2027 season.
