The Suns now plan to sign Jamaree Bouyea to standard contract soon after going under the luxury tax, per
@Gambo987
.

Currently on a two-way contract, Bouyea is averaging 7 points, 1.6 assists and 1.1 stocks for Phoenix.

So maybe they are letting go of both players just acquired or plan on moving them again?

The only way I see the Suns trading one of their guards (they already have) is if they know they can't keep them long term.

Only thinking it through... the addition of two guards in trade.

More likely though, they keep them because they like what they have.

I keep waiting for another shoe to drop but the Suns could easily stand pat and go with their rookie big men.

The most important aspect of the Richards and NHD trade, was getting below the luxury tax and perhaps moving a two-way player to the standard roster.

Think both guys get waived and the Suns pick someone up from the waiver wire or use another 2 way contract once Bouyea is converted.

Though it would be funny to have Anthony on the bench only for KJ to pop up out of the stands to fight him.

The vet minimum is only $884 thousand. That has to be attractive.

The assets the Suns had to give up to trade for Richards (three second round picks) and using a first round pick to move Nurkic, sheds an even darker light on the Suns past regime.

I didn't realize the min was that low. In that case, if we waived one of the just acquired guys, we could convert both Bouyea and Livers.

I think the salaries are about proration, but yes, it definitely helps.

Bennedict Mathurin is one of the pieces going to the Clippers.

Actually, where did you get that $884k minimum salary number? Everything I see is that it's based on years of service and starts at $1.2m for rookies and goes up for every year after. This is Bouyea's 2nd season, so his minimum salary will be a little over 2m. His 2-way salary would be half that, so 1m, and we are halfway into the year, so he's sitting at about 500k so far. That leaves him with $1.5m prorated that will be owed to him.

Livers, meanwhile, is in his 4th season, so his minimum is about $2.5m per. Based on the formula above, his prorated salary for the rest of the year would be closer to 2m. So we wouldn't have enough to convert him at the moment since after converting Bouyea, theoretically we would only have $750k remaining under the cap.

I was getting it from the Bobby Marks tweet above as a guesstimate, nothing more.

I think the Suns have about 1.5 hours to make another trade.

Just what the Suns needed, another guard. Maybe another move to come. I take it this trade has a lot to do with shedding salary.
That's all it had to do with. We didn't do it for the return. Best part is we didn't have to give up any draft assets to get under the tax penalty.

It could create a domino effect or not. Either way, the Suns accomplished what they wanted by shedding salary.

If nothing changes, they can run small ball lineups at opponents every game.

The Suns and Bucks are looking to expand the trade. I'm liking it.

The actual minimum is prorated. The ~2.5 is what it would be for the full year, but since there is only ~38% of the season remaining the minimum for the rest of the year is that 800k+ figure. They don't retroactively get the minimum for games already played.

If nothing changes, they'll keep doing exactly what they have been doing. 31-20. Seems to be working pretty well.

It appears the trade deadline has ended although details could still be in the works.

I thought there was another hour to go, but oh well.

I always wanted Chris Boucher for the Suns.
