When he was picked I doubt anyone and me thought he would be getting zero Min.
I did. In fact, the one knock on him was he was going to be a project, but he had a lot of upside.

In fact, the reasoning was Williams was going to get the minutes, and the Suns could then take their time with Man Man.

It's really that simple.
we're too busy trying to win every game - i like that our rookies will have to earn their way on the court - there's a clear level of play they'll have to unlock

i most love that they didn't come into a dysfunctional locker room - fleming and manman are watching dillon hit career highs and their watching him do the work behind the scenes off camera

fleming is further along but manman's potential is still fascinating - he doesn't get frustrated - staff neither - they're drilling and instilling nba fundamentals every day with a 7'2" ball of clay

I'm an old man Ouchie everything has to be short term. What are we looking at , three years?
For Maluach to develop into a playable player? I’d expect him to get meaningful minutes mid-next season. At present it doesn’t look to be skill that’s the issue. The pro game is just too fast for him.

I don't think it is quite that simple. There are a lot of good teams that find some minutes for their rookies if there rookies are good.

Ours aren't very good yet, especially Malawach.

Except it is that simple. We give them spot minutes, but that's because we can afford to. Maluach is a project, he's always been a project, and he will remain a project for the next year at least. Flemming is a late-1st, early 2nd player, so not sure what you would expect.

I think that timeline is reasonable. Rookies make their biggest strides between seasons 1 and 2 in the off season. Everything moves too fast the first year. They get in the physical training on the NBA level, and the increased speed in practices, etc. Man Man has looked at least average to B level at the end of the game in mop up minutes. He is not going to be a bust. The G league minutes have really helped with the speed thing. You can see he's more confident now. Ott just shrinks the guys he plays at the end of games. I swear if he would have put williams in at the end during the loss against Miami, they wouldn't have been running free to dunk on the basket so much. But Ott is stuck on Oso in the last minutes in the fourth. He has to learn to trust his guys and use them when their skills are appropriate. Just on free throws alone, reason dictates Wiliiams should be in because he's a much better free throw shooter than Oso.

The situation with Cole Anthony is still fluid. Maybe the Suns should explore it further.

I wonder what the league rules are for when you have to report no matter what?

I guess a player could forfeit his salary if they didn't want to show up, but I don't think that is the situation here. The Suns are likely evaluating how they want to fill out their standard roster.

I don't think Queen would be getting minutes over Williams if he were on this team, and Oso would be giving him a run for his money. There is no doubt that Queen is ahead of Maluach at this point, but I am not worried about it. Bring the big kid along slowly and it will pay off.

Accepting the Pelicans trade would have been the best option imo.

Yeah, trading down in the 2025 draft and acquiring a future unprotected first round pick which they could have used or traded would have been enticing.
