Badger basketball great Nigel Hayes-Davis is back in the state of Wisconsin.
The professional basketball veteran, who returned to the NBA this season after seven years overseas, was traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. In a three-team deal between the Suns, Bucks and Chicago Bulls that was reported just hours before the trade deadline, Hayes-Davis and Ousmane Dieng went to Milwaukee, Nick Richards went to Chicago, and Cole Anthony and Amir Coffey went to Phoenix.
The former Badger appeared in 27 of the Suns' first 51 games of the 2025-26 season, averaging 7.2 minutes, 1.3 points, 1.2 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 0.3 steals per game. He shot 32.6% from the floor, 12.5% from 3 and 50% from the free-throw line in that limited action. The former Badger has only appeared in six games since Jan. 1; he fell out of the Suns' regular rotation after seeing regular minutes to start the year.
Time will tell whether the Bucks keep Hayes-Davis on their roster for the remainder of the season. The former Wisconsin standout is a free agent at the end of the campaign and may soon search for a team with regular playing time available.
