Yeah I'm thrilled with the moves we've made following the KD trade but it would take a minor miracle to push this roster into the postseason. To me, it shouldn't even be their goal. I want to see the young guys get plenty of court time, their future is our future so we might as well get to it.

I'd like to see the finished product. Brian Gregory has said he wouldn't do anything to jeopardize the Suns future.

Phoenix has gotten much younger. However, throwing the youngsters to the wolves is not the way to go, either. They will get plenty of playing time.

I have no idea, but I don't think the front office is expecting mere development. I think it hopes for that "minor miracle." I base my guess on one reason: that it chose to go all-in on what remains of Devin Booker's career. Unless it's being foolishly romantic by insisting on keeping the visible face of the franchise around despite that he doesn't have Kobe Bryant-like charisma or skill, it hopes to fight its way into the playoffs with Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, enforcer Dillon Brooks, questionable and overpaid young guard Jalen Green, and a bunch of rookies. What else can the front office do except hope for a miracle?

This might please romantics like me, whose second-favorite Suns team is the "lovable loser" team of 2013-14; but it doesn't promise anything else.

An x-factor is the drive and motivation of the rookies. We have heard that Maluach has great character and motivation. Researching Brea's college career, I find claims by his coaches that leave me hopeful: that Brea is quite confident and has a strong work ethic.

I’m not worried about fit. This season is more about evaluation than wins for me. It could be a disaster and Ott/Gregory are still getting at least three years to figure this out.

Last season was a disaster. Hopefully the Suns move forward as a team this season, assembling the right players.

More moves are to come.

Whether it translates into additional wins remains to be seen.

I am just not interested in adding a bunch of veteran journeymen in free agency. We aren't going for win-now mode, so let the young guys play.
Agreed. Luckily we are unlikely to have even an exception available so it's not even an option, because Ishbia might be willing to sign a journeyman if he had the option.

This is a 30 win team and this roster might be bottom 5 in the league. The fact guys on here think a completely washed CP3 will make any kind of difference is hilarious.

Something really weird happened when this team got good here.
It's the classic bit of only remembering the good and not the bad about the past. I guess that is a thing humans in general do.

I wonder what kind of playing personality this Koby[sp?] Brea has. Whether he has any of the drive and motivation to be any more than a shooting specialist role player.

My first thought for a comparison was Jason Kapono, but shorter. Possibly Kyle Korver. Actually, if one is willing to dig decades back, I would worry about this comparison to a Suns player who fizzled out: Wesley Person. A strong shooter, but not noted for anything else. I suspected for years that Person lacked either confidence or drive. He lasted for only a few years with the Suns before being traded, and never made great impact as a player.

I also wonder if Brea has high basketball IQ. If so, perhaps he could become similar to James Jones as a player, or stick around in the league as long as Korver.
He seems to have the drive and the IQ. If you watch that video of him breaking down video on himself for an hour, he is very detail oriented and seems very serious about improving his game.

I think there is a good chance he can at least be a Korver / Reddick kind of player.

I think you might be remembering the bad and not the good about CP's past with us but I'm also against bringing him back. I just don't think he's a good target for us though he can still help the right team. But we need to start playing quicker, we don't need another point guard that brings the ball up slowly. It would be nice to have him available in clutch situations and to help feed our bigs down low but the cost (bad defense, slowed-down offense) is too great IMO.

I think nostalgia plays a role for those who remember the good times, but yes, the Suns will want to play faster.

The Suns are keeping Collin Gillespie. Then the post disappears.

you think it's possible for additional wins over last year's 36?

Shams Charania may have deleted the tweet about Gillespie, but here it is again.

IMO, the Suns should have tried to sign him to a multi-year contract.

I don't know if I buy the roster is pretty good but to me it has potential to setup the foundation for years to come.

Just keep all the vets away. This team needs energy and a fresh identity. Booker should be enough and if not, trade him too. We don't need any of those retired already in their minds players. Hungry vets won't want to come here.

Booker 24 to 28 Points
Green 20 to 24 Points
Beal 16 to 20 Points
Williams 14 to 18 Points
Brooks 12 to 16 Points
Allen 12 to 16 Points
Dunn 8 to 12 Points

That is 106 points if you use the low average on those 7 players without a rookie having to score. I hope the Suns add one more point guard, and they will be competitive this season.

IF and its a huge if, Book and Green can mesh as a guard duo, this team could do some interesting things.

Considering the Suns couldn't play defense last season, it's hard to know.

Let's just ride the wave and see where it takes us. We haven't even seen the final roster.

Wins don't equal enjoyable basketball. This roster is providing hope. I don't care if we lose 60+ games, as long as they play with heart.
