Maybe this is why he was available to us at 10, and isn’t played over Oso and Richard’s. I wonder if he has the lowest minutes played out of all top 10 rookies.
well he is technically the 10th pick and the least experienced so yeah id imagine so lol - not to mention playing time is also situational and different for each team - some teams have winning records - some suck - some could have development as the their primary directive - we're playing to win

TJ is just hating. Maluach is raw still and young. Developing him slowly is for the best. Throwing him in the deep and could lead to problems down the road. No use ravaging his confidence to see what he can do now. Kids future is bright.

If Maluach could become as good as Ivica Zubac, I'd be pleased.
thoroughbreds and clydesdales amigo - both have their advantages but with the direction of today's nba i'd go thoroughbred - provided the thoroughbred isn't still a colt

I'm not sure where Maluach falls on the spectrum of NBA centers. He is not an elite athlete that soars over the top of the basket.

I thought Zubac might be an in the ballpark comparison.

Nikola Jokic has defied what I previously thought NBA centers should be.

with flemimg cracking the lineup maluach might be next

i think ott felt comfortable in the blazers game - felt he could get fleming in there and still win - idk if we'll see fleming at the end of the first half again anytime soon against quality teams but if we do it'll mean ott is juggling the winning and developing

maluach is a different story - greener than the herb in my bag but we might be able to try 5 minute stretches soon - not while fleming is on the court - probably not against the good teams we're about to face unless we play really well

fleming said after the game he didn't know - it was a surprise when ott threw him in - i like that - i think that's gonna make fleming and maluach bust their ass even further because now they know ott can call on them at anytime

starting to think if we see maluach in non garbage time it will be with oso at pf to help carry the load - that would be a very tall very fast frontcourt

I think that was the plan all along, not to throw the rookies in too soon, see what the vets have, and go from there. Seems like solid logic.

word but im not sure we expected to be this competitive - harder to develop and find those minutes win you can win games - but like you said the rookies are the plan

Yeah, who wants bland seasoning? You don't add in the seasoning until you've got the good stuff. The recipe will taste that much better when we get there.

I'm not ready to write off Maluach, but I believe he has a pretty high bust potential after watching him play. I'd still give him a good 3 years to develop as a big, but I would not be surprised if he busts.

If the expectation Maluach will be a star, I think that's unlikely. However, he has a decent chance to be a role player in the NBA.

Of course, Nikola Jokic was drafted in the 2nd round and he is not terribly athletic, so one never knows. I'm not comparing the two players in terms of talent.

I'm not seeing it at the moment.

He does not have that explosiveness I would like, but age, playing time, basketball IQ and measurements can help with that.

and i think we have a solid coaching staff in place which is huge - the roster is loaded with players who practice hard and play hard - good year to pick him up - i think ott might stick around

We will see. It's too early to tell with Maluach. A coach can only do so much.

Really. What I would hope from Maluach is to become a Mark Williams type of center who can shoot the occasional three. That would be a success.

If Maluach had Mark Williams athleticism, there would be no doubt.

What center in the league has explosiveness? I don't even think of Embiid being explosive.

Manuach is 18. Most male bodies do not fully fill out muscle wise until 25. That is 6 years from now. He already moves very well for his size. He could become a monster.

You people need to dream bigger. I'm holding out for prime Embiid without the injuries.
