Did anyone get a chance to see Duane Rankin's article about day 1 of the draft? I was never a big fan of his, Gerald is a far better reporter, but this just cements him as being completely clueless. It's paywalled, but he gave us a C for the day -- a B for drafting Maluach and a D for giving up 2 late 1st rounders for a guy that failed the Lakers physical. Of course he doesn't mention that there is a good chance he didn't actually fail any such physical, that it was likely a fake diagnosis by the Lakers to get out of what was a much worse trade than the one we pulled off.

He may be proven right. We would've panned anybody who graded our Bender/Chriss or Jackson drafts as poor. I'm okay with a differing opinion even if negative. I'd take that over someone like Flex who is spinning every signing as a 4D chess move.

And we still have Dunn. Wonder what he has dunn work on this summer. Hope Ott has a system where Book and Green can be effective. Getting curious for the new season.
If these guys want more green they ott to have Dunn a lot more skills training, because if they don’t get individually better you can book it that they’ll stink again.

This pick has me excited. The last exciting big man with movement skills was Tom Chambers.
I been lax on the NBA since that last strike but this pick has me considering tuning in again.

Did you forget about Amare? He had some of the best movements skills in the entire league his first six years in.

Sorta did. Stoudamire never really clicked with me....and I dont recall anyone being real excited about bringing him in.....but I was thinking more, 7 footers...even though chambers was only 6'11...I think Big O Miller was more exciting than Stoudamire.

I noticed that. It's the perfect display of Rankin's reporting.

I like Duane Rankin, but it's kind of old school reporting. So much is expected from sports writers these days… inside sources, breaking news, podcasts and such.

Amare's athleticism was off the charts.

He was everything Suns fans dreamed about in a big man. If only he could have stayed healthy.

Amare is literally the most explosive and exciting big we've ever had, by a long margin.

Miller had much potential. Him and Dumas added to the core of KJ, Majerle, Barkley, Ainge, Chambers, Ceballos. My gott we should have had a couple of more finals with that team.
There’s really no excuse for not getting past Houston at least one of those years. The Suns were better and deeper.
