He is not an above average player in the nba. If he were he wouldn’t be playing for minimum contracts, in the G League, or on two way contracts, or whatever.
There's a lot of guys on benches around the league that never get into a game. That he plays at all, makes him average. Just my way of thinking on it. That's a c level guy.

Avery Johnson said that thing defensively with this kid is his quick feet. That makes it possible for him to switch on defense easily.
Agreed. Maluach is a prospect, he will definitely need time and he is not a super athlete but it is clear that he is very mobile and a willing on- and off-ball defender which is a very good sign

The way Duke had Maluach setting screens outside and then getting back inside impressed me.

i still don't consider maluach a #10 draft pick - got him as a top 5 but the #1 at his position

Thanks for the definition. When I think of average I tend to think of an average starter in the league. I don't know why.

Book got into it sometimes early in his career, before he started looking off into the distance.

I remember Devin Booker getting in the face of Nikola Jokic when he took Cam Payne down.

The statement was “ABOVE” average. And he played on a mediocre team that given up on everything else working. Look, I like the kid and have hopes for him, but let’s be realistic here.

Aaaaand, it didn’t. One year minimum contract. I stand by my statement until proven wrong (which is certainly possible).
I am trying to trace my way back and find out what or who you two are talking about. Can't find the antecedent to the conversation.

Truth is “average” is tough to define because you’ve got stratosphere level superstars and end of bench guys. They all factor into “average” (under a traditional definition). That said, yeah I agree, I tend to think of average starter.

My defining Gillespie as less than above average due to being a minimum contract, g league or two way guy.

The statement was "average to above average", which is totally reasonable given Yuma's definition of average.
