I was thinking of centers that are not necessarily top tier like Hakeem Olajawon. He could have that upside. I am thinking more of a guy like Robert Parrish. Started slow and seemingly got better and better as he went along. Career numbers 14.5 points over 9 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists thrown in for good measure, but a guy who had solid defense and could take on most NBA centers in an era where there were some good to great centers roaming the NBA. I would be happy with Khaman turning out to be a solid guy that played about 2 decades ion the NBA. Of course you wish for him to be an Olajawon, but for the trade to be a success in my mind, he just has to be a solid top ten center eventually in years 3 or 4 down the road. One of those guys you just pencil into the lineup every single night that anchors your defense.
This is definitely the hope. If Maluach could anchor the Suns interior defense for the next 10 years or so, I'd be pleased.
