I'm not sure how KD factors in. The Rockets are China's most popular team and we just acquired Jalen Green from them. I haven't looked into what sort of following he has there but he's definitely on their radar. Not that Jalen alone is enough to get us a game, I could see him being a tipping point in our favor if the choice was Suns or Jazz or something. I mention the Jazz because they got a new owner right before we did but they haven't spent like Ishbia. The league finds ways like this to roll out the red carpet to new owners who spend big and Ishbia has spent big so far.
Rockets has the most fans in China. KD and Curry may be the players with most individual fans. So, the KD trade may be the main reason for this arrangement. Besides, most Rox fans also would wish Jalen Green a successful career to prove their previous support right.

There's a lot of hypocrisy on the gun issue, but Gerald was representing a public company. Gerald has a right to his opinion. I think he had to know it might jeopardize his job.
Agreed but he probably wasn't thinking about his job when sharing his opinion. I'm sure it caught him by surprise.

Arizona Sports or another local sports media source would be smart to hire Bourguet.

I have no doubt he will land on his feet. IMO, he was the best source for Suns news in the Valley.

Paul Coro was previously the best source as I view it.

It was the correct decision to fire him. There is no place for justifying murder in our society. I do not like extreme right views, but assassination is not the correct response. You should be ashamed to think otherwise.

He shut off his notifications on his rant, which I believe proves he knew he'd ruffle some feathers.

After watching this happen to other people in the public eye, if you have talent, someone will hire you once the controversy settles.

To be fair, he wasn't justifying murder. Just the fact that he wasn't going to mourn the guy's death.

That was much more than refusing to mourn.

Bottom line is Gerald's job was to cover sports. He had the choice to say nothing. He didn't take that choice and chose to speak and is now facing the consequences of his own words.

Debating this further leads to P&R beliefs, IMO. Whether you think it sucks Gerald was fired or not is relevant but getting into the weeds of it doesn't really matter.

Gerald didn't say anything wrong. Unfortunately, he was mostly talking to the wrong audience. Of course, Gambo talked about it as well.

We should be able to talk about it in a respectful manner. In the deceaseds own words, it was worth dying for gun rights.

Kirk: "It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment".

I want to keep the discussion on the Suns but notice the word used is "some".

If Gerald Bourguet is not covering the Suns this season, it will be a real loss. He was so thorough in his coverage.

I keep hoping PHNX Sports will reconsider or he will show up at another sports media source.

So everyday I keep searching. Can't believe it came to this.

It's a tricky situation. Everybody should be entitled to their opinion but on the other hand, we should keep politics out of sports. Just like there is supposed to be separation of church and state in our country.

There's always been politics that have leaked into sports. Usually the gut reaction by fans is to basically say "Shut up, and talk sports." I can see where his employers were afraid the blow back PHNX might get.

For my money, Gerald was the only guy I really found value with. Gerald brought analysis using analytics and stats to back up his viewpoints. I really thought he was head and shoulders above the other people who are just spouting off opinions like we do.

Espo is the only other person of value because he is a decent interviewer.

@Mainstreet, let me know if you find him landing someplace.

When I read about the Gerald Bourget opinion on Kirk's murder, I immediately thought of this:

"he sister of Minnesota Timberwolves player Naz Reid was fatally shot at a New Jersey apartment complex this weekend, and authorities said Monday that her boyfriend has been charged with murder."

Especially after reading Kirk's statement: Kirk: "It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment"

I'd like to keep politics out of sports as well, but it happens. There are plenty of examples out there.

A thought. If John Gambadora can praise Charlie Kirk on Twitter, is Gerald Bourguet not allowed to criticize him?

I didn't see anything wrong with what Bourguet said, however, I would have preferred to read about it elsewhere.

Except there was no such justification.

The tweets by Gerald Bourguet are there for the reading.

Khaman Maluach turns 19 today.

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
I was thinking of centers that are not necessarily top tier like Hakeem Olajawon. He could have that upside. I am thinking more of a guy like Robert Parrish. Started slow and seemingly got better and better as he went along. Career numbers 14.5 points over 9 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists thrown in for good measure, but a guy who had solid defense and could take on most NBA centers in an era where there were some good to great centers roaming the NBA. I would be happy with Khaman turning out to be a solid guy that played about 2 decades in the NBA. Of course you wish for him to be an Olajawon, but for the trade to be a success in my mind, he just has to be a solid top ten center eventually in years 3 or 4 down the road. One of those guys you just pencil into the lineup every single night that anchors your defense.
