Man, if you could have seen the frustration in his face after the third pick yesterday. it was scary.
"I promise I'll do better"
He knows he doesn't deserve all that hype. He knows he's a below average qb. He knows hes a charlatan, a fake, a fraud and a phony.
hey, if somebody wanted to give you forty million, would you take it? sure you would, damn the torpedoes, superbowl here we come!
but Denver is football crazy. they have their dignity (unlike us poor cards fans) and an image of superbowls past and future to protect.
Jake knows what its like to have a fan base turn on him. To be a god one day and a goat the next. Very unpleasant. Now multiply the mutiny at sundevil stadium by a factor of ten. Imagine mobs with pitchforks and torches screaming for the blood of a simple boy from Idaho.
With time winding down in Cincinnati, jake stood by himself on the sideline. Occasionally, a teammate would come up to him, shake his hand, pat him on the back, tell him, don't worry about it/you did ok.
but he barely even noticed them. his mouth was turned down in a tight grimace. His eyes were far away and distant. Every human hates criticism. Every man has his breaking point. maybe jake was wondering just how much he'll be able to take if things get bad in Denver this year.
