Former Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer knows what it takes to be successful in the Mile High City. Plummer, who was the signal-caller for Denver from 2003-06, recently gave his thoughts on the team and their status going into 2026 in an interview with Kyle Odegard of Casino Guru News.
Plummer started off really high on Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.
"Bo is the most important part of the team," Plummer told Odegard. "With his progression so far, you need to take care of him... Bo has the clutch gene. You can’t coach that. Coach (Sean) Payton has no recipe for that. Coach Payton isn’t a good coach at all when it comes to a clutch gene, because there is no coach that can coach that. That comes from the player. That comes from the DNA inside Bo. Certain guys just have it."
Plummer also talked about how crucial it is for Nix and new play caller Davis Webb to have an additional year of continuity going into his third season. "Your quarterbacks coach is someone you need to feel really comfortable with," Plummer said. "Having someone there you can be vulnerable with and someone you can trust, that’s shown through on the field with how Bo has responded and played.
"Davis has been a steady presence for him in that quarterback room. I’m sure coach Payton comes in once in a while, but mostly it’s Davis Webb as the communicator. He obviously has a great relationship with Bo."
Plummer also gave his opinion on where the Broncos' focus should be going into free agency. "They’re going to add some weapons to the offense," said Plummer. "They have to."
Plummer has continued to stay involved when it comes to the Broncos, co-hosting his "The Cold Tub" podcast with fellow former Bronco Nate Jackson.
Denver can begin negotiating with pending free agents from other clubs on Monday.
