Two days after releasing him, the Pittsburgh Steelers brought back veteran cornerback Tre Flowers ahead of their wild-card playoff matchup against the Houston Texans.
On Wednesday, the Steelers announced the practice squad signing of Flowers, who will join Daequan Hardy and D’Shawn Jamison as cornerback depth outside the 53-man roster.
Flowers has played in 98 games, including 44 starts, over the course of his eight year career.
After signing a one-year contract with Pittsburgh in December, Flowers appeared in just one game during his short tenure with the Steelers. He was a healthy inactive in Week 18 before his release on January 5.
Flowers’ return wasn’t the only practice squad move the Steelers made ahead of their playoff matchup against the Texans, as offensive tackle David Sharpe was released, clearing space for the veteran cornerback.
