The Pittsburgh Steelers have waived one of their veteran defenders ahead of their playoff matchup against the Houston Texans.

On Monday, the Steelers announced the decision to part ways with 30-year-old cornerback Tre Flowers, a move made possible after multiple cornerbacks returned to Pittsburgh from injury.

After signing with the Steelers on a one-year deal in December, Flowers appeared in just one game for Pittsburgh, playing against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. He was a healthy scratch the following week in the regular-season finale against the Baltimore Ravens.

Following Flowers’ departure, Joey Porter Jr., James Pierre, Brandin Echols, and Asante Samuel Jr. are the only remaining cornerbacks on the roster, while safety Jalen Ramsey also has experience lining up in the slot and outside.
