In a wave of roster moves, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed three to their practice squad, elevated DL DeMarvin Leal, and placed DL Isaiah Loudermilk on injured reserve — while also releasing two to make room for the new additions.

For the Steelers' practice squad signees, Pittsburgh has brought in wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins, linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, and tight end Matt Sokol — capable contributors should their numbers be called.

Selected with the 84th overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Leal was originally waived by Pittsburgh on August 26 as part of final roster cuts but was quickly brought back via the practice squad. His elevation provides the Steelers with depth at both the edge and interior of the defensive line.

Regarding Loudermilk, his placement on IR comes as no surprise, as the former 2021 fifth-rounder is expected to miss significant time with a high-ankle sprain.

Two of the final roster moves made by Pittsburgh on Wednesday were the releases of tight end J.J. Galbreath and wide receiver Rakim Jarrett from the practice squad — the latter of whom had just signed 12 days prior.
