With their first roster move of the John Harbaugh era, the New York Giants have signed a former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman.
On Wednesday, reporter Ari Meirov revealed that the Giants signed former Steelers 2022 third-round defensive tackle DeMarvin Leal to a Reserve/Future contract.
Selected with the 84th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Leal appeared in 32 games, six of which were starts, recording 35 combined tackles, one sack, and three tackles for loss during his four-year stint with Pittsburgh.
Leal was waived by the Steelers as part of final roster cuts in August 2025 but was subsequently re-signed to the practice squad just one day later.
Pittsburgh has seen a few former players find homes over the past week, with arguably the most fortunate being wide receiver Brandon Johnson, who signed with the Denver Broncos’ practice squad ahead of the exciting 2025 AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.
