Steelers receive good news on rare quarterback opportunity

The Pittsburgh Steelers have far more questions than answers regarding the long-term future of their quarterback position, but one potential solution received a promising update, as Texas Tech's Brendan Sorsby declared for the NFL Supplemental Draft.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Sorsby is declaring for the NFL Supplemental Draft after losing his NCAA eligibility following a massive gambling controversy.

Sorsby, considered one of the top quarterback prospects of the 2027 NFL Draft class, reportedly placed thousands of bets totaling more than $90,000, including at least 40 on Indiana football while he was on the team's roster.

The NCAA later ruled Sorsby ineligible, putting his college football future in doubt and leading to his latest decision to pursue a shot to play in the NFL through the supplemental draft.

The Steelers, lacking a true succession plan at quarterback once Aaron Rodgers retires, could look to bring in Sorsby to compete with Will Howard and Drew Allar for the potential 2027 starting job.
