With a possible 2026 NFL supplemental draft looming, the Pittsburgh Steelers learned of the potential price for quarterback Brendan Sorsby — and it isn't cheap.
According to NFL insider Tony Pauline, drafting Sorsby in a supplemental draft could cost teams at least a late-first- to early-second-round draft pick.
“Multiple sources inside the league tell me if QB Brendan Sorsby of Texas Tech is unable to regain eligibility for the ‘26 college season & forced to enter a supplemental draft, he will be a late 1st/early 2nd round pick depending on the order,” Pauline wrote via X. “Presently Sorsby is graded higher than Arch Manning by several area scouts as we head towards the season.”
Following Sorsby's gambling controversy, the NCAA denied Texas Tech's appeal to reinstate the talented quarterback, and it appears the NFL may be heading toward a oh-so-rare supplemental draft.
For fans curious as to how a supplemental draft works, it allows teams to bid future draft picks on eligible prospects who were not part of the standard draft held in April. The Steelers would fall into the last of three lottery tiers based on their 2025 playoff standing, which means Pittsburgh would likely need to offer a late first-round pick if the team was interested in acquiring Sorsby.
