The twists and turns of the Brendan Sorsby drama never seem to end. The potential Pittsburgh Steelers draft target now finds himself between a rock and a hard place, and the NFL is making a statement. According to NFL reporter Mike Garafolo, the NFL has informed Sorsby that the league is choosing not to hold a supplemental draft this year despite his application to enter.

Sorsby was deemed ineligible for the upcoming college football season after being found to have made over 9,000 bets, including on his own team during his time in college. There was a point where it looked like Sorsby might be able to return to Texas Tech but after a late switch, was going to take a shot at moving on to the NFL via the supplemental draft.

Sources: The NFL has informed Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby there will be no supplemental draft this year, rendering him ineligible to play in the league this season.

The NFL is clearly drawing a line in the sand that they are not going to just hold the draft for Sorsby after such egregious violations in college. For Sorsby, this means he must now sit out the 2026 season entirely and repair his reputation and prepare to be in the 2027 NFL draft.
