On Tuesday, NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo posted on social media that the NFL has informed former Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby that they would not hold a supplemental draft this year. This leaves Sorbsy in football limbo.
The question now if what is next for Sorsby? By rule, Sorsby cannot sign with any NFL teams this year. He was deemed ineligible to play college football this year after a massive amount of sports betting by him was proven. This included more than 9,000 bets, some of which on his own team.
Next up for Sorsby is the waiting game. Sorsby now has to decide how he will spend the next year as he prepares for the 2027 NFL draft. This will be a perfect opportunity for Sorsby to not only work on his game, stay sharp and stay in shape but also do some work on repairing his reputation to put NFL teams at ease before they invest a draft pick in him.
As things stand right now, Sorsby is our No. 6 quarterback for the 2027 NFL draft and has a long road ahead of him to repair his draft stock with very limited opportunities.

The league told Sorsby it is the NFL’s “sole discretion” whether to hold a draft. There will be none in 2026. pic.twitter.com/vOd6Koqhnt
