The Pittsburgh Steelers are already on the hunt for a new head coach and now they could be hunting a new top executive as well. According to Steelers beat writer Gerry Dulac, Steelers Assistant General Manager Andy Weidl is interviewing for the General Manager vacancy with the Atlanta Falcons.

Weidl joined the Steelers in 2023 and has been in charge of the NFL draft and talent evaluation ever since. Weidl got his start with the Steelers as a scout back in 1998 but he left just before former General Manager Kevin Colbert was hired. Weidl's big break came when he became the Philadelphia Eagles Assistant Director of Player Personnel in 2016. Weidl's ability to evaluate talent and draft was what drew the Steelers to him after promoting Omar Khan to General Manager.

Losing Weidl to the Falcons with just over two months to the 2026 NFL draft could be a disaster. This draft will be pivotal for whoever the Steelers hire as a head coach and the team will need to scramble to find a replacement.
