After an eventful Pittsburgh Steelers offseason that featured major signings, an insane trade and a promising 2026 NFL Draft class, ESPN has revealed the biggest surprise player on the team.

According to Brooke Pryor of ESPN, the Steelers' biggest surprise player on the roster is none other than third-round rookie cornerback Daylen Everette.

"Everette, one of the Steelers' three third-round draft picks, turned heads with a larger-than-expected role in minicamp, as cornerback Joey Porter Jr. limited his participation while hoping for a contract extension," Pryor wrote. "The player out of Georgia held his own as he battled with wide receiver DK Metcalf and got his hands on several passes."

Everette, who was selected by the Steelers with the 85th overall pick in last April's draft, played for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2022 to 2025. He recorded five interceptions, 19 passes defended and 150 combined tackles during his 43 games at Georgia.

The Steelers feature a promising cornerback room heading into the 2026 season, with Joey Porter Jr., Jamel Dean and Jalen Ramsey headlining the unit. But Everette could continue to see additional first-team practice opportunities if the Steelers can't figure out a long-term extension with Porter soon.
