But handle him they did. Season low 9 points.
they straddled wemby - cut off his ability to move and got in his personal space before he could get going - if he tried to fight through it that's when help arrived

it was like we had a rule - the help came from behind most of the time

we'd pin him and rob him - he didn't like it one bit

Enjoy! All the pregame smugness wiped off their collective faces:

I watched the game with a Spurs fan and got to witness that smugness disappear firsthand and it was excellent. Handing the Spurs loss #1 of their season was sweet enough but that extra icing was almost enough to give me diabetes.

Got through replay now. It's noticeable that Suns stick one guy very close to Wimby to limit space he needed before doing anything, often was it Goodwin and RO on him, who are strong and smart at interceptions, while MW was assigned away from him. As Wimby likes to stay on 3pt line, it's been effective D plan executed well. Richards was attacking Wimby on O with nice success, he is better than Oso. Oso again was called for 2 moving screen violations. Dunn is a good dribbler, his 3pt shots have a good form, I think he just needs more experience to become a Ch. Braun type of player or better.

That was basically last years squad out there tonight except Williams for KD. The pieces we got from Houston were non-factors. Goes to show how much of a limitation KD was on his teammates.

Book is now free to be Book. Great game by Grayson tonight. I wonder if he is a better back court pairing with Book than Green. Don't know yet. Haven't seen Green play with Book.

Encouraging bit of coaching by Ott

Williams is a longer player than any other Wemby will face. Williams standing reach is 9-9. Wembys is 9-7. That is something he is not used to facing. I stilll can't believe we got Williams as cheaply as we did. Williams might not have all the guard skills that Wemby has, he knows how to play center. Wemby hands at the 3pt line. I am not saying Williams is superior, just that Williams has a lot of traditional center value.

Just some dry humour about need of scoring and injuries (Jalen Green, Bradley Beal). Hopefully most of you can take it.

On the Spurs, they will be great, maybe contenders if Wemby stays healthy.

Great to see the three is falling for Dunn. Defense is pretty good in the first (watching the recording now).

I still don't believe this stat, but I heard that Williams and Maluach have the two highest standing reaches in the NBA.

Wow! Our inexperienced team both kicked the Wembanyamas' butt and humiliated Victor Wembanyama, even keeping him off the boards in comparison to his normally Dennis Rodman-esque rebounding numbers. Who would have thought it?

Well, I tried to note that the Wembanyamas might possibly be a paper tiger. Two and possibly three of their victories had been over bad teams.

Good point. You can see the chemistry is better and coaching seems to be improved. It will be interesting to see how green fits in.

I can't wait for the next game, something that hasn't happened in at least a year.

Just watched high lights. Looked like Victor W had the flu. Great game from Booker and rest of team

I did not expect a W and such a good game by the Suns. Just stunned. Bring on the paper clippers!

I get it. It sure doesn't look like it on the floor. Wemby's legs are so long, he just doesn't look human. But look at Williams arms vs Wemby's. Wemby has a bit of a t-rex thing going.

I still can't believe we have a real center. And Nick Richards is playing well too. In fact, Oso is even putting quality minutes in at the big man position. Maluach also really has potential, but with 3 other bigs ahead of him, we have time to let him acclimate.

I love the passing and the swarming defense. The depth on this team allows everyone to play harder and spread the minutes around. It also allows for continued good play in spite of injuries.

I am hoping the NBA starts to get away with its infatuation with 35 plus year old stars who can score but are a step slow.

I don't think you have to worry about him being a paper tiger, he's the real deal no matter what happened last night. Keep in mind that bigs need the little guys and Wemby without Fox and Sochar was a lot easier to take out of his game.

No, I believe you misunderstood whom I meant, because I expressed myself unclearly. I didn't mean Wembanyama is a paper tiger, I meant I think the Spurs team might be. But I called the Spurs "the Wembanyamas" to mock the media hype over him--because of it, nobody cares about any of the Spurs' players except Wembanyama and possibly De'Aaron Fox. It gave the impression that I was unreasonably dismissing Wembanyama as a paper tiger. Yes, a player who can rack up nine blocks or 15 rebounds in some games is the real deal indeed. Nobody blocks nine shots except Rill Russell or Wilt Chamberlain. (Probably not Manute Bol, because he couldn't stay on the floor long enough.)

After the Suns kicked their butt, I would say we have every right to feel skeptical of how good the Spurs are as a team. They would be nothing without Wembanyama.

That is an official measurement from the combine for Williams (9'9"). Victor does not have an official measurement from what I can find, so it could very well be even higher. Also, for Maluach he measured at 9'6" at the combine so I don't know if the 9'8" number is valid.

Oh, my bad, yes I though you meant Wemby. And yes, the Spurs record was probably inflated given their opponents - like us, they've had a very easy schedule.

I am prepared to sigh and hold complaints about Devin Booker playing out of position, because he was fine as a point guard last night.
