Devin Booker (I think it was him) echoed mass opinion when he said of Wembanyama that we've never seen anyone like him. Well, I disagree. I started to suspect that we have seen someone like Wembanyama: Hakeem Olajuwon--the big man so deadly that Michael Jordan admitted to fearing him (!!!).Wembanyama is probably like a taller Olajuwon with a three-point shot.

I researched this a little. Sure enough, I learned that Wembanyama has indeed been training with Olajuwon and learning his moves such as the famous Dream Shake.

That is an official measurement from the combine for Williams (9'9"). Victor does not have an official measurement from what I can find, so it could very well be even higher. Also, for Maluach he measured at 9'6" at the combine so I don't know if the 9'8" number is valid.
AI says Wemby is 9-7 fwiw.

Book is now free to be Book and to lead this team, while having a bunch of hard working competent players around him. The big question is how he works with Green.

Wemby is more like a tallen Kevin Durant IMO, not that this comparison really nails him but it gets closer than anyone else I can think of.

For what it's worth, here's an excerpt from AI when I asked it for NBA comps on KD. I know AI isn't perfect but I'll share it anyway since it agrees fully with what I think on the subject:
Victor Wembanyama's NBA comparisons blend several players to capture his unique skill set, most commonly citing Kevin Durant for shooting and ball-handling, Rudy Gobert or David Robinson for shot-blocking and defense, and Kristaps Porziņģisfor size and interior finishing. Other comparisons include Anthony Davis for his defensive versatility, Jayson Tatum for his sidestep, and Giannis Antetokounmpo for his "grab and go" transition ability. Because of his unique combination of size and skill, he is often described as a "unicorn" or "alien," with many noting that no single player is a perfect comp.

I think Wemby is close to KD on offense but on D he reminds me of a prime super sized AK47. Kirilenko was an absolute demon in Utah back in the 00's. Sloan got a lot out of him before his body started breaking down.

The ball is flowing in this offense. The only one hanging on for any time is Book, and he is moving it too. Jalen Green could disrupt the flow I think. I would work him in slowly. Also, is it possible that this team is playing better without Dillon Brooks? Yes, it is. Too early to think it really means anything.

At the same time Williams has moved into the starting lineup. Imagine we will be just fine plugging in Brooks for Royce.
