According to a social media post from college football analyst Cole Cubelic, Michigan State has the No. 28 most difficult schedule in the country this season.

Among Big Ten teams, the Spartans' strength of schedule ranks right near the middle. Michigan State has the No. 9 toughest schedule among Big Ten teams in the FPI.

When looking at the Spartans' schedule, they do get some notable breaks in conference play -- which explain why their schedule isn't ranked higher. For instance, Michigan State will avoid Ohio State, Indiana, USC and Penn State this upcoming season -- all four of those teams are considered at or near the top of the league by many.

While the Spartans may avoid those Big Ten tough foes, Michigan State does have a tough early season road trip to Notre Dame on its non-conference slate. That game and matchups against rival Michigan, Oregon and Washington certainly bolster the slate with high-level teams at the top.

Strength of schedule rankings always need to be taken with a grain of salt during the preseason. But it's still interesting to see where this computer system ranks Michigan State's upcoming schedule's difficulty. It certainly appears to be another season of tough games for the Spartans.
