Michigan State hockey will open the 2026-27 season against in-state, non-conference foe.

The Spartans will open the season with a home, two-game series against Northern Michigan in early October. Michigan State revealed their non-conference slate of games earlier this week, with a return trip by the Wildcats marking as the season-opening series.

Michigan State will officially open the 2026-27 season on October 9 against Northern Michigan. The second leg of that two-game series will come on Sunday, with a home football game against Illinois sandwiched in-between the Friday and Sunday games.

Along with their opening series against Northern Michigan, Michigan State confirmed they'll be playing North Dakota (in a neutral site game in Texas), road trip to New Hampshire and a trip to Rochester, New York for a matchup against RIT to round out the October slate.

The remaining non-conference slate includes a home two-game series against Boston University in November and the annual Great Lakes Invitational in late December.
