St. Lawrence will carry the banner of Section 10 into the Final Four of the New York State Public School Athletic Association in Binghamton next weekend.

The Larries claimed the Class C Regional Championship shading McGaw of Section 3 2-1 at St. Lawrence University on June 5. On Saturday, Canton, which had impressively defeated Section 3 Champion Marcellus 16-3 on Tuesday, was blanked by Section 4 Champion Chatham 9-0.

SLC 2 - McGaw 1: The Larries extended Coach Tim Brown’s tenure into the Final Four by winning a brilliant pitching matchup between SLC’s AJ Sweet and McGraw’s Remington Stull. Neither hurler allowed an earned run.

The Larries (14-4) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Matry Cate Dow reached on an error and scored on a single by Jade Bejjani. The Terriers (18-4) answered in the fourth when Stull reached on an error and scored on a single by Haylee Bassett.

Bassett was the last Terrier to reach base as Sweet retired the last 11 McGraw hitters. The winning run crossed the plate in the bottom of the sixth when Avery Marcil reached on an error and scored on the second single of the game by Stella Todd. Bassett finished with two singles for McGraw and Emersyn Wilson singled.

Chatham 9 - Canton 0: Chatham ended an outstanding Canton season for a second straight season as Skylar Groom struck out 13 batters without issuing a walk and limited the Bears to two singles by Elle White. White and Tessa Alguire were on the Canton mound and allowed only two earned runs.

Groom and Rylie Branden each singled and doubled for Chatham who scored six times over the course of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Sam Silver singled twice and Meta Mountain added single.
