Would it make sense for the Boston Celtics to reunite with Robert Williams III? Brian Scalabrine weighed in on the prospect of bringing back the Time Lord for the coming 2026-27 NBA regular season on an episode of the WEEI Boston Sports Original "Rich and Ken with Ted Johnson Show". The former Celtics center and current Boston broadcaster was generally supportive of such a move – with one major and predictable asterisk.
"Great – 100 percent," said Scal on the possibility of getting Williams back in green and white. "I think the Celtics do believe in their medical (staff) too. So, obviously he has an injury history and stuff like that, but, my understanding is, and I've seen the guys work and what they put into, like remember Luke Kornet had a bunch of injuries before he got there."
"And Neemias Queta, I'm not sure his bill of health was perfect, but you he really developed," added the former Boston big man.
"So, I think if they believe in their medical (staff), which I think they do – there's about 10 Australian dudes on the plane – I know they're all doing the same thing, so there has to be a reason that they're doing that," suggested Scalabrine.
"So I would think that they would believe in their medical (staff). Across the NBA, if you look, 30 teams would tell you if Rob can stay healthy, he's the best value in the NBA. Every team would tell you that. The Lakers would, everyone's just hesitant about health, but as far as production and what he would make, that is something that's definitely out there."
