The Boston Celtics should make it a priority this offseason to acquire a veteran center who can either start or be among the first players off the bench. Brian Robb from MassLive has a particular player in mind for this role.

Robb outlined a few possible centers that the Celtics could target in his Friday mailbag, highlighting former Boston player and current Trail Blazers center, Robert Williams III.

"Robert Williams is a known commodity with big injury risk," Robb wrote. "However, he’s added to his 3-point range in the past season and would make a nice tandem with Neemias Queta for anchoring the back line."

Williams has been in the NBA for eight seasons and began his career with the Celtics, where he played for five years before being traded to Portland in exchange for guard Jrue Holiday.

The 28-year-old center averaged 6.7 points and seven rebounds over 59 games last season, making him a solid option for the Celtics to bring off the bench.

Boston attempted to improve its center depth at this season's trade deadline by acquiring Bulls center Nikola Vučević. However, he never quite fit the vision that head coach Joe Mazzulla had in mind. Perhaps Williams will be a better match for what the team is trying to achieve.
