Today in Boston Celtics history, three former players of the storied ball club were born. The first, fan favorite big man and now broadcaster Brian Scalabrine, was born on March 18, 1978, in Long Beach, California. He played for the Celtics for five seasons from 2005 to 2010.
An alum of the University of Southern California, Scalabrine, affectionately known by his fans as the "White Mamba," was selected in the second round of the 2001 NBA Draft, taken with the 35th overall pick by the then New Jersey Nets (now the Brooklyn Nets). In 2005, he signed a five-year contract with the Celtics, where he contributed to the team's championship victory with the Banner 17 crew in 2008.
He put up 2.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game while with Boston.
It is also the birthday of Kedrick Brown, who was born in Zachary, Louisiana in 1981. The Louisiana native played college ball at Okaloosa-Walton Community College and was selected with the 11th overall pick by the Celtics, also in the 2001 NBA Draft. He played for the Celtics for three seasons, averaging 3.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

Finally, it is also the birthday of forward Glenn McDonald, who was born in Kewanee, Illinois in 1952. He was selected out of Cal State Long Beach by the Celtics 17th overall in the 1974 NBA Draft. McDonald won a championship with the Celtics in 1976, and averaged 4.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game with the team.
