The more I think about it, the more I like this trade, if we just think about it from a basketball point of view. It gives us increased size, athleticism, and much needed scoring in the starting lineup, in addition to freeing up time for the youngsters and Goody and Collin. I expect Bridges to take pressure off Booker. It will pay dividens.

Tell that to Charles Barkley.

This whole narrative that a player can only be great if he leads and wins the Finals is ridiculous.
I personally don’t believe that. But I think great players at least consistently raise their teams to the level of playoff teams and superstars somehow lift those teams to upsets in the playoffs every now and again.

That's fair, but you gotta admit, some people take it waaay overboard.

Also, the Suns saved $20–$30 million in luxury tax and added a player at a position of need.

This is a part of the trade that often gets overlooked. It helped them keep Williams, Gillespie and Goodwin.

No, they certainly are not.
Well, unless they do it in Vegas, it didn't make sense to do it right away once they were able to as they're all over there. So, let's at least be sensical about it and not act like they're trying to pull the wool over everybody's eyes.

I’m mean it didn’t take much time for me to realize we needed an upgrade at PF. So while it’s controversial, he’s the player we targeted so im going to trust they have no issues with behavior. Hes a nice upgrade for our roster, can do some point forward, he’s a lob threat. He will double the amount of rim pressure we got last year which leads to lots of good thing like fouls and free throws and open 3’s.

Now we have a nice rotation with Bridges and Brooks to start with Fleming probably the first forward to sub in for either one of them. We were very small last year now our roster is getting a little more size and athleticism. I’d love to see Ott use the bench depth all season to keep starters mins down and let the young players learn.

We had (and still have) the Gauchos (Oso, Dunn, Gillespie). Now we can add Fleming, Peat and Maluach. We also have Kennard and Goody so yeah, our bench is strong. He ought not shorten the rotation too much if/when we get to the playoffs. That's like tossing your secret weapon, leaving it off the table. That is amateur hour.

From a purely basketball POV this trade makes more sense if have have a center who can shoot 36% or better from the three.
