The writing was on the wall that Miles Bridges' time in Charlotte was coming to an end as soon as the Hornets traded LaMelo Ball for Naz Reid.

On Sunday, it came to fruition, as the Hornets agreed to trade Bridges to the Phoenix Suns, according to ESPN's Shams Charania, ending their 2018 first-round pick's tenure with the team after seven years.

Reid slots into Bridges' spot as Charlotte's starting power forward, forming an impressive new lineup for the Hornets who added Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale in the trade with Phoenix that also saw the team's swap draft capital.

Here's more on the deal and grades for how each team made out:

Hornets and Suns trade details

Hornets get: Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale, 2033 first-round pick

Suns get: Miles Bridges, 2029 first-round pick, 2027 second-round pick

Hornets grade

The Hornets improved their depth with this deal, adding two veterans who averaged over 28 minutes per game for a playoff team last season. They also improved their shooting, as Allen is a career 40 percent 3-point shooter and O'Neale shoots about 39 percent. To add that type of firepower with role players whose combined salaries are barely more than Bridges is a win. Especially considering Allen basically matched Bridges' 17 points per game on his own.

Grade: B+

Suns grade

Phoenix gets credit for flipping two players who were relegated to the bench in their playoff sweep against OKC into a starting forward they can pair with Dillon Brooks to form a physical front-court with center Mark Williams. More importantly, the Suns turned Allen and O'Neale's combined salaries of almost $30 million for the next two years into Bridges' expiring $22 million deal. And picked up earlier draft capital in the process.

The problem is they sacrificed depth for a player whose production wasn't much better than Allen's, and who doesn't shoot the three as well as either player they shipped out. As long as they're still trying to win around Devin Booker, it's questionable how much this trade helps in the interim.

Grade: C
