I was listening to KDUS and it was a national show filling in with Sean Elliot as the guest. He was asked who would come out of the East and he picked Detroit over Miami.

He was then asked if the Suns were the team to beat in the West and he very emphatically said "No, San Antonio is". He said they dominated the Suns in San Antonio, winning by about 30 points. He then said they beat the Suns here in overtime with everybody healthy.

He then suggested that Dallas would knock the Suns out in the second round because they can score with Phoenix and they play defense.
He continued on to say that have the leagues best record doesn't mean squat and that to win in the playoffs you have to be able to win on the road. I thought the Suns have shown that already.

He has no respect for the Suns. I wonder if this is how the Spurs in general feel about the Suns. I wonder if anyone connected to the Suns picked up on this and uses it to help provide extra incentive to get to the Spurs and show them. One series at a time of course.

Most former players refuse to pick the Suns. They first promote their former team if at all possible, then take the "safe pick". Of course, they also tend to overembelish the safe pick with random, and usually fabricated, comments.

And of course Elliot had to also "lend-out" support to his other former team as well! :D

The guy is entitled to his opinion, right?

Seems to me he's just making the safe picks...sticking by teams (Pistons/Spurs) that have won it all before.

Sean is entitled to his opinion.

Greg Anthony all but said on NBA nation that the Suns would lose to the Grizzlies.

More doubters to prove wrong.

I like that Anthony doesn't like the Suns. He didn't like them to start the regular season either.

If it's his opinion that the Spurs will win, what's he supposed to say? If we were Spurs fans, we'd all be thinking that our team was looking pretty good. It's just like this board: If you can't handle an opinion that conflicts with yours, maybe you're better off not reading, watching, or listening.

The Suns have been "disrespected" all season long. I don't think it has cost them any games yet.

when they beat us in overtime we were not all healthy barbosa was out and we had just traded away our bench. the only people to get min besides the starter were jake, hunter and smush. i thought all along that had we had barbosa we would have won that game. even jacobson probaly would have given enough relief for nash to keep the fast breaking suns going.

Why wouldn't Elliot pick the Spurs? If he didn't, that would be like Marjle going on national radio picking against the Suns, wouldn't it?

Actually, I went to a quite popular Spurs forum and many DO disrespect us. :)

It's not secrets. They believe in defense and we believe in offense.

But of course some Spurs fans jumped out and told them "it's ok to be confident and it's another to disrespect other teams". Afterall, we do have the best record in the league!

Well, I like this. I like it that so many people look us down. That's what underdog does. BITE BACK. :D

They say we have NO defense, well, we'll show them what we can do in the playoffs. GO SUNS!!!! If other teams' defense gets better in the playoffs, I don't see why we can't have better defense. It goes both ways.

Gotta admit though that the Spurs pretty much handled us all year, they almost beat us at home with no Duncan and no Ginobili.

I kinda wonder why the Spurs/Suns haven't had a bigger rivalry when you look back at the times they've played each other in the playoffs. Everyone Remembers Chuck closing down the Spurs old arena with the jumper over Robinson. Then you had 2000 where Kidd was hurt and we had to bring KJ back and we ended up beating them, I believe they were defnding Champs at the time. And of course the miracle 3 point bank by STAT and then the "teardrop from God" by Marbury and we pushed them to the limit only to come up short. If we meet this year, it might be the best series yet.
