The 2025 season was a dreamy one for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He led the NFL in receiving yards (1,793) while finishing fourth in receptions (119). The Seahawks won Super Bowl 60 and Smith-Njigba captured Offensive Player of the Year honors.

This offseason has continued the momentum for JSN. The former Ohio State standout signed a historic four-year, $168.6 million extension that made him the highest-paid receiver of all time. Now, the accolades have continued rolling in for the NFL's most impactful receiver in 2025.

ESPN is holding their annual ESPY Awards on July 15th. Earlier this week, they revealed the four nominees for NFL Player of the Year. Smith-Njigba is among the candidates, alongside Myles Garrett, Matthew Stafford, and Drake Maye.

The competition is stiff. Stafford is the reigning MVP winner. Garrett set the single-season sack record in 2025 and was traded to the Rams this offseason to pair with Stafford. Maye was the breakout star at quarterback, finished high in MVP voting and went to the Super Bowl.

None of those candidates won Super Bowl 60 like Smith-Njigba did though. Stafford and Garrett probably pose the biggest risk to Smith-Njigba winning yet another prestigious award. The ESPY's will be worth watching.
